FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Peptide Research

Ideal conditions for peptide research include a controlled environment with minimal exposure to moisture and light, consistent temperature regulation, and adherence to sterile techniques to prevent contamination.

The concentration required can vary widely depending on the nature of your research. It’s best to consult published studies, experimental protocols, and peer-reviewed literature for guidance on concentration ranges for similar research.

Peptide Storage

Lyophilized peptides should be stored in the freezer, in a desiccated and sealed container to prevent moisture absorption and degradation. Avoid conditions that contribute to freeze-thaw. This can degrade your peptide.

Proper storage of lyophilized peptides is crucial for preserving their integrity and ensuring their effectiveness.

Store lyophilized peptides in a freezer. A very low temperature is preferred for long-term storage to minimize the risk of degradation.

Keep the vials tightly sealed to prevent moisture ingress.

Avoid placing lyophilized vials in areas of your lab freezer that may cause freeze-thaw cycles. Moisture can lead to hydrolysis, reducing the peptide’s purity and effectiveness.

Use desiccants to absorb any accidental moisture. Storing your lyophilized vials in a resealable plastic bag with a desiccant is an effective way to prevent moisture. It is important to note, once reconstituted, peptides should never go in the freezer.

Aliquoting peptides minimizes the number of freeze-thaw cycles and exposure to air, preserving their stability and integrity over time. Do this only when you are ready to perform your research. Once reconstituted keep in the refrigerator and remove only for your lab research.

Peptide Handling

Always handle peptides with care to prevent contamination. Use gloves, and if necessary, masks or other protective equipment to ensure a clean working environment. Never shake your peptides. Gently roll and twirl but never shake your vials.

Peptides should be reconstituted using a suitable solvent that maintains the peptide’s stability and is compatible with the experimental design. The choice of solvent and the concentration should be based on the peptide’s properties and the specifics of your research. Always ensure that you are using the proper pH with your reconstituting solution.

A cloudy peptide solution can indicate poor solubility or contamination. You may need to adjust the solvent, the pH or the concentration, or filter the solution.
